Your Senior House Sitters, Jeanne and Doug Erickson welcome you.

We live in a one-family home in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota. We’ve both been married once before, each having a married child, both of which have two children. We spend time with our adult children and grandchildren often. Both of us are non-smokers.

I was an English teacher for a few years, and then opted for a career in communications. In March of 2006, I retired from employee communications and managing employee volunteer programs for a foods/agricultural corporation, headquartered in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

I am of Swedish and German descent, Catholic. Interests include travel, writing, gardening, theater, tv/movie-watching, observing nature, word games online, and volunteering.

Doug, of Swedish descent, has had a life-long love of boating. He retired from his retail marine business ownership of 30 years, but now has an online Boat Parts and Accessories store. He works part-time at it from home or on the road. He also assists computer users with training and troubleshooting and web page design . He has many handy home skills, too, from his mechanical background.

Most recent volunteer activities have included working within our community to stop the sale of drug paraphernalia in convenience and grocery stores. Past experience includes leading our neighborhood Block Watch organization, coordinating “National Night Out, and other community efforts.

We have traveled around the U.S. lots since we’ve been partners, making road-trip vacations to Florida, California, the Carolinas, New York, and especially the North Shore here in Minnesota. We love travel and would like to continue doing it with an opportunity of getting a closer look at areas away from winter, and also to experience the thrill of discovering new places.

We both grew up with pets, love animals, and we raised our children with pets. Our present pet, Shadow, is a black feline that entertains us, and makes home fun.
